Fractionator Pump Around Control

Since poor performance of this control loop results in variations in product quality, reliability and performance are key.

Some fractionators may use only one pump-around system, but others may incorporate several to control heat balance. Each is used as a type of reflux to improve the separation of the product draws above and below the pump around loop.

FCCU pump around applications are hot, highly viscous heavy oil mixed with catalyst to form a slurry. Correct selection of control and isolation valves is very important.
